Matthew began training young people in 1989 his vision to create a unique theatre training program with the aim to train young people in an environment under the direction of experienced professionals has been highly successful and from 1989 to 2010 ran a well respected Theatre Company. Since 1989 his aim has been achieved in seeing students appear in all aspects of the entertainment industry, with members appearing at world renowned venues such as The 02 Arena, Wembley Stadium, The London Palladium, The Royal Albert Hall and Internationally in New York, Las Vegas and Baltimore.
During the 22 years Matthew was principal and successfully coached students into completing their professional training at such establishments as RADA, LAMDA, Oxford & Cambridge, Mountview, GSA, The Royal Ballet, Julliard, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, NYU, De Paul, AMDA and The Boston Conservatory. Pupils have also been represented in The Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Theatre, The August Wilson Festival at the Kennedy Center, The Shakespeare Summer Season in Central Park, The 25th anniversary concert of Les Miserables and at the Stephen Sondheim 80th Birthday celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall
Past pupils have been represented in all aspects of the entertainment industry including recent credits including, West End credits include: Legally Blonde, The Children’s Hour, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Billy Elliot, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Shrek. Movies credits include The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter Movies, Rock and Rolla, Nine The Good Shepherd, Finding Neverland, The Dark Knight, The Pirates Of The Caribbean 4, Atonement, Robin Hood, TV Credits include, The Tudors, Game Of Thrones, Murphy’s Law, The Wire, Eastenders, Little Britain, Law & Order UK, Torchwood, Doctors Who and Shameless. Major events include 3 Royal Variety Performances, The Queen’s Golden & Diamond Jubilee and “Hey Mr. Producer” all in front of Her Majesty The Queen. Other credits include The Eurovision Song Contest, American Idol, The X Factor, Tours with Take That, Leona Lewis, Steps, One Direction, Cheryl Cole, Rhianna, Duffy, Cat Stephens and Cirque du Soliell and The 2012 Olympic Games In 2012 Matthew was delighted to announce that current student Kerry Ingram won the Best Actress in a Musical award at the Olivier Awards for her role in Matilda.
Matthew has produced over 200 shows in venues all over London including Sadler’s Wells, Richmond Theatre, The New Victoria Woking, Wimbledon Theatre, The Fairfield Hall, and The Theatre Royal Windsor. His productions have won numerous awards and have regularly been performed to sell-out audiences. During the 2007/2008 season Matthew produced and staged the European premier of Disney’s High School Musical, breaking box office records all over the UK and with this production he went on to be the first Youth Theatre producer to gross $2million on a production. Matthew went on to do European youth premiers of Disney’s Beauty & The Beast, Hairspray, Billy Elliot, Dreamgirls and Batboy.
In 2004 Matthew created an International exchange program with the Baltimore School for the arts. During the six productions of The Laramie Project, The Wiz, Our Town, Billy Elliot, High School Musical, Elegies, Stags and Hens and Beautiful Thing were produced in both London and Baltimore bringing together the international students. In 2012 the international program moved to Las Vegas where students performed on the World famous Las Vegas Strip.
In the summer of 2010 Matthew took his Glee style singing group into a brand new UK reality show called Don’t Stop Believing, a show looking for a unique group of talented singers in the UK, 3000 groups auditioned and they were selected as one of the 30 groups for the live TV Finals. Winning the heat they entered under Matthew’s direction the group went on to be placed 3rd in the UK.
